Let’s take this quintessential BBQ side and kick it up a notch or two! These salty and sweet beans will compliment any BBQ meat perfectly.
55 oz can baked beans
8 slices bacon, diced
½ white onion, diced
2 Tablespoons minced garlic
1/2 cup bourbon
1 cup Uncle Bubby’s Sweet BBQ Sauce
3/4 cup brown sugar
3 Tablespoons Uncle Bubby’s Pig Rub
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
Start by cooking bacon in large pot until almost done. Remove bacon from pot with slotted spoon, reserving grease. Cook onions for 5-6 min or until soft, adding garlic the last minute. While the vegetables are cooking, mix beans, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, Pig Rub and Worcestershire sauce in a large bowl. When vegetables are done cooking, stir in bourbon to deglaze pan. Add mixture to the other ingredients. Add everything to a large aluminum pan and smoke at 250 degrees for about 2 hours. Alternatively, cook in the oven at 300 degrees for 1 hour. Enjoy!
